About
I’m Marina, a Bay Area native with a touch of Southern California in my past. I find joy in interior design and the adventure of raising a toddler.
My foundation in Technical and Professional Writing instilled in me a love for clarity and process, but my true passion lies in connecting with and developing people.
Beyond my technical background, my experience managing teams in the food and retail industries taught me how to recognize potential, nurture talent, and cultivate growth – skills I bring to my current role leading a team of technical writers.
One of the most critical lessons I’ve learned over the past few years is to embrace the challenge of balancing the needs of my team with the needs of the business. Sometimes they’re at odds and that opens the opportunity to be creative in doing what I can to align the two.
I lean on my ability to build strong, transparent relationships with individuals across product, engineering, and field teams. My core leadership philosophy centers on fostering trust, being adaptable and empowering others to be their best.
Resumé
Early in my career I learned that I really enjoy technical writing, and I’m fortunate to be leading and supporting other writers as a Manager at Workday. Being happy where I’m at means that I’m not actively looking for new opportunities, but I'm always looking to meet new people and learn new things.
I like to imagine my next career move would be to continue working closely with product teams, flexing more strength in Content Strategy, and eventually helping other managers grow. If there's one thing I like more than writing, it's helping people learn and helping people grow. If that sounds like something your team is looking for, let’s get in touch!
